The Importance of Being Earnest -

June 6, July 11 & Aug. 22

Oscar Wilde’s last and arguably greatest play. Fake relatives, invented invalids, white lies and a hand bag combine to make a comic masterwork full of Wilde’s patent wit.  Reduced to just over an hour, this condensed fast paced version of the play is sure to leave you in stitches!

Pyramus & Thisbe -

June 27, Aug. 1 & Aug. 29

Pulled from the pages of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this play follows the colorful and comedic cast of laborers who strive to produce a play fit for the Duke on his wedding day. Newly written scenes join together Shakespeare’s original scenes to prove that “the show must go on!”

An Evening of P.D.Q. Bach:

Two One-Act Operas

July 25, Aug. 15 & Sept. 5

Oedipus Tex: An Opera in One Tragic Act

& Hansel and Gretel and Ted and Alice: An Opera in One Unnatural Act are two of Prof. Peter Schickele’s funniest works.  With music that is accessible to everyone, both of these operas are in English (sort of!) and are filled with larger than life characters and brilliant writing.

Oedipus Tex is a satirical Western-Themed comic opera where audiences learn the fate of the older and definitely more ‘western’ brother of Oedipus Rex.

And in Hansel and Gretel and Ted and Alice, your favorite fairytale characters meet at a quaint old inn, fall in love and eventually get hopelessly confused by the simplest plot points!

When can you see these wonderful plays?
